Companies that have embraced the use of information technology need to develop a contingency plan that prepares them for unexpected incidences that may lead to loss of information. Most of the course topics were compelling. Since I began the course, I have learned many different things about nursing informatics. One of the exciting topics was using websites and search engines. For instance, I learned about using websites and search engines and regulations and ethics of healthcare information (Edel, 2009). The topic websites and search engines enable me to determine the credible and reliable website to use. Through the topic, I learned about different databases and search engines, useful for nursing students. Besides, the topics enable me to understand the benefits of narrowing down search results using keywords. I learned topics that affect the use of healthcare information, including HIPAA. The regulation protects against loss of protected health information, increases awareness of patient well-being, and develops patient safety culture.
Participating in debates was useful in learning different topics every week since I found different opinions from my peers, and via that, I understood topics by reading some of the answers from classmates (Sipes, 2019). It is helpful to learn from others since classmates post different answers and debates questions yield different answers from each learner. Debates also made me research more about different topics in nursing informatics. Discussion clarified everything about nursing informatics. The additional approach which I believe could have added valuable information is live chat. The professor l provided announcements through live chats, which helped complete an individual project. Live chats offer an opportunity for a student to seek clarification on challenging areas.
Skills and knowledge in information and patient care health information system are vital in preparing a nursing student to provide quality patient care in a clinical setting. I will use the knowledge gained to advance my nursing practice (Sipes, 2019). For instance, I will demonstrate skills in utilizing health care systems, communication systems, and information systems to support safe healthcare practice. I will uphold moral standards related to regulatory requirements, details security, confidentiality, and patients' right to privacy.

I find your post very informative. You have started by explaining how diabetes develops from the glucose ad sugars consumed in foods. From these, you have identified and explained the four major types of diabetes namely Type I, Type II, Gestational Diabetes, and Juvenile Diabetes. You have clearly explained how the four types are different. For instance, Sun et al. (2021) argues that type I diabetes is autoimmune as the body fails to produce enough insulin amounts while gestational diabetes is usually diagnosed during the second or third semester of pregnancy making a person insulin resistant. Further, since Type II diabetes is the most common type and can be triggered by environmental factors or genetic doctors, it has to be treated by intervention that can help the body use the insulin it produces (Blaslov, Naranda, Kruljac & Renar, 2019). You have also mentioned the medications used to treat Type II diabetes and the recommended lifestyle changes.

Some of the common ways of managing type II diabetes are regular monitoring of blood sugar levels, dietary restriction, exercise, and pharmacological therapy. According to Borse et al. (2021), dietary restriction involves elimination or reduction of sugars and carbohydrates by avoiding fried, starch, sugar, dried fruits, fruit juice, trans fats, and packaged snacks. Both inductive and deductive reasoning are important in drawing conclusions on issues that require critical thinking skills. Hayes et al. (2018), argue that deductive reasoning analyses two true premises and determines the outcome. It is rather a top down strategy for solving cases and understanding the happenings that seem complex to evaluate. It enables an individual to consider general ideologies that allow him to make inferences for specific conclusions. On the other hand, an inductive reasoning is a bottom up approach that take one from a specific idea to make generalizations. It is important to note that in as much as two true and solid premises are used to make an inference, it is possible to overgeneralize which leads an individual in making a wrong conclusion. This information enables an individual to find further details that back up the claims and avoid invalid assumptions.
It is important to critically analyze an occurrence before determining the causative factors to avoid making wring judgments (Fahsing & Ask, 2018). In the case study where a newly wedded Caucasian man was found murdered and his wife lying barely conscious in a pool of blood, it was reported that a huge male had been spotted wandering around the trailer park that the couple lived in prior to the attacks. The residents who were interrogated did not recognize the man and he was not a guest of anyone in the neighborhood. This information can be used to imply that the man was a possible suspect since his whereabouts were unknown and he was only seen just prior to the massacre. It is possible to link the man to the murder case since in such a community, the neighbors recognize one another and the intrusion of an unfamiliar individual may raise suspicions.
Further, it has been noted that there were bloody shoe prints that led out the door and disappeared in the dirt outside the back of the trailer. Again, a tire iron was found under a trailer near the back of the park. It is evident that it is one of the tools that were used to harm the couple. The attacker must have dropped it as he left the scene of crime. As has been mentioned, to avoid overgeneralization, it is necessary to conduct further research so that clarifications can be done and possible errors are eliminated. This, therefore, implies that it is necessary to investigate any traces of blood on the tool and match it to that of the victims before further reports are given. Finger prints also need to be taken and compared to those in the crime scene to ascertain its use during the crime.
The trailer was ransacked and video games, trading cards and a gaming system were stolen. In the current world teenagers spend most of their time on their phones, chatting with friends, watching television and playing video games among other leisure activities (Fahsing & Ask, 2018). The neighborhood has been described as a community of young adults struggling to get by in life thus the youths seen peeking at the couple’s window could be responsible for ransacking the trailer and stealing the aforementioned items. To meet the societal demands and fit in certain social classes people have been forced to commit crime and teenagers to undertake delinquent act. Postoperative handover is a complicated work process obstacle by the time constraint, interruptions, and lack of supporting structure. The study aimed to find individuals' experiences with the standard of client handovers between the PACU and operating ward before and after the adoption of s structured tool for conversation (Reine et al., 2021). The study focused on nurses that the standard of patient handovers requires improvement related to the shift of sufficient and essential information. The study question included: what are nurse experiences with patient handover standards among receiving and transferring personnel? What is the association between age, gender, professional foundation, and handover experience? The study targeted nurses in the postoperative anesthesia care unit and operating room. The research was carried out in a facility in southeastern Norway (Leonardsen et al., 2019).
The methodology was cross-sectional, quantitative design, and a questionnaire to determine nurse experiences with patient handovers. The study results show that adopting the ISBAR system in client handovers between the PACU and operating room enhances quality and safety. Nurse experiences improve by following the logical handover structure since it provides proper documentation (Leonardsen et al., 2019). It is easy to develop contacts at the start of the handover since documentation is complete and ambiguities are resolved.
The study's limitation is that different individuals were included in the pre-and post-implementation. The sample size in the study was minimal and included men. The research was also conducted in one facility, and the findings may not be generalizable to other settings and wards (Bressan et al., 2019). Therefore, the adoption of a systematic system for communication in patient handover improves standards and safety in handover between the PACU and operating ward. The study is significant in nursing practice since it impacts individuals' experiences with aspects of handover. It helps healthcare providers understand the benefits of implementing structured tools for communication in handover.
